Apply to be an ecological belonging fellow!
The Earth Commons Institute and The Red House at Georgetown University and the Europe-based Wellbeing Project are excited to announce the launch of a new global fellowship program focused on exploring the concept of ‘ecological belonging,’ a way of thinking about our deep interconnectedness with the environment and how we are influenced by the stories, patterns, and paradigms that shape our society.
As we launch this new project we are calling for undergraduate students at Georgetown to apply for the first cohort of Ecological Belonging Fellows. This fellowship would begin in the first week of November and continue throughout the Spring of 2024. During the Fall of 2023, Fellows will attend virtual sessions with the global cohort and in-person sessions with Georgetown peers, network globally in the field of environment and sustainability, and contribute to a local ecological belonging project.
To apply, please fill out the following application no later than 10/24.
As an Ecological Belonging Fellow, you will join a community of students, faculty, and practitioners from four different universities around the world (University of Ljubljana, Facens University, University of Hawaii). In this cohort, you would work locally with fellows at Georgetown and stay in conversation with participants from our partner institutions who are doing the same. During the Fall, this work involves the following:
-
4-5 virtual sessions on ecological belonging with the entire global cohort
-
3-4 in-person sessions with the Georgetown University cohort to think about ecological belonging in a local context
As an Ecological Belonging Fellow you would also have the following opportunities:
-
Earn course credit and possibly a certificate for your work in the fellowship.
-
Network with students, faculty, and practitioners from around the world working in the area of environment and sustainability.
-
Collaboratively build a body of work focused on ecological belonging in a local context.
-
Participate in a global summit on ecological belonging which is tentatively planned for 2025.
