This course examines our increasingly interconnected – yet stubbornly fragmented and unequal – world, and asks how we, as global citizens, might conscientiously choose to live and act in it.
Fyodor Dostoyevsky famously wrote that “the degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons.” This course will prepare a select group of Georgetown seniors for life after graduation by exposing them to this forgotten and ignored element of our humanity.
Duncan introduces The Bridge Courses, a series of 1-credit, pass/fail senior seminars that aim to help students gain personal and professional skills, reflect on their undergraduate experience, and engage in discussions about how to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life after graduation.
The idea for the CALL program started with the Red House, an innovative organization at Georgetown that strives to make higher education more effective and equitably beneficial to society.
